What is MFR?

The Mind-Body Connection of MFR

Myofascial release treats the whole person: mind, body, spirit, the conscious, and the subconscious. While some fascial restrictions are a result of bracing against pain due to things like injury, sedentary lifestyle, or postural misalignment, they can also be the result of a subconscious bracing against stress, beliefs, blocked energy, and emotions.

MFR can be a support to a healthy and functional nervous system due to its ability to release tissue memory, blocked energy, complete the feedback loop of the fight/flight/freeze response, and repair dissociation and disconnection from the body. I truly believe that MFR is a missing link in our overall health and well-being which is why it is a primary approach woven into all of my work.

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a very safe and effective type of bodywork developed by physical therapist John F. Barnes. This hands-on, gentle, whole body form of therapy can provide amazing results for decreasing emotional and physical pain and helping clients return to active lives full of vitality and happiness. MFR treatments are relaxing like a massage but often have much longer lasting results due to the way MFR addresses the underlying causes of dysfunction.

Fascia is a web-like system of connective tissue that runs head to toe without interruption, through and between every single cell of our bodies. Trauma, inflammation, and postural misalignment can cause fascial restrictions which produce symptoms such as pain, headaches, disease, and dysfunction. Yet until recently, the fascial system has been largely ignored by most health care professionals and cannot be seen in standard tests such as X-rays and MRIs.

MFR uses gentle sustained pressure and gentle stretching to address the root causes of many common ailments rather than just treating the symptoms, leading to long-lasting results.

I use MFR as a primary approach in my somatic healing sessions or as a standalone treatment for overall wellness. Everyone can benefit from MFR.

Not local to California but want to start implementing MFR techniques? Let's have a virtual healing session where I support you in finding what practices are best for your healing.

in-Person MFR Sessions

Appointments are currently available in Visalia, CA.

MFR can be used for a wellness session or as a part of therapy, coaching, mentoring, etc.

The way MFR works best for almost everyone is to have 1-2 treatments per week for 4-6 weeks at first. This majorly accelerates healing and will give you a good sense of the change that is possible with MFR. It's also fine to just come once and see what you think, but just note that I'm usually booked out 2-3 weeks.

After your initial stretch of treatments, we can discuss a treatment plan and you can decide how to space your appointments, at first closer together and stretching out into maintenance or ‘as needed’ care.

To buy a package of 5 treatments, purchase it here first. Then you will be able to book your five sessions.
